So I'm going to listen to my body (ironic - that's what Elmo tells you to do in his potty training DVD), and it's telling me to rest, rest, rest. Since I'm not getting much sleep (more on that at a later post), we'll see what happens, but I think sleeping in on weekends is probably a good thing right now.
But... I'll be back! :)Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18248327206223128557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8375617680384228238.post-53148275404026298752012-04-27T19:03:05.788-07:002012-04-27T19:03:05.788-07:00I've been wanting to stop by and catch up for ...I've been wanting to stop by and catch up for awhile now...I saw your twitter comments after the run, and I knew that sometimes no words can help the frustration.
BUT NOW, I'm coming off of my son's disappointing ending to his STATE SURF contest--so I'm all about giving some encouragement and perspective!
I'm so very proud of you for the training and discipline it takes to race! Don't be bummed for a minute. SO many factors--from the sleep (or not!) to race factors themselves...a couple minutes either directions--is no biggie REALLY!
Way to keep your chin up. And to take a break and regroup.
You'll easily improve time next year. ;)
Hey---so much fun seeing you in AZ!! thanks again for coming downtown to hang with me!!! :)
aloha!monicahttp://www.thegrommom.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8375617680384228238.post-77058102114998657502012-04-23T18:09:01.241-07:002012-04-23T18:09:01.241-07:00Lady, my heart is just breaking, because I know ho...Lady, my heart is just breaking, because I know how it feels right before you need to ugly-cry and it is awful.

Finishing the marathon last fall was really, really hard. I knew going into it that getting to the start line was going to be The Biggest Deal (since I was so injured leading up to the race!). But when I realized at Mile 18 that I would be walking and running equal amounts (and that it was going to be as hard as it was) I was crushed.

What I've been repeating to myself during this round of training is that logging the miles is what matters. Some of my runs are going to be really great. Some of them are going to be really horrible. All I can do is put in the work (which often times seems ambiguous, and with no real end) and pray that race day is The Right Day.

That being said, I have raced with nausea and food poisoning it is The Worst Feeling.

xoKathttp://www.tenaciouslyyours.comnoreply@blogger.com
